Community Linkage Program

The Office of Forensic Services at the Ohio Department of Mental Health works in partnership with the Department of Rehabilitation and Correction, Bureau of Mental Health Services, to link offenders who have severe mental illnesses to community mental health services upon release from state prisons. ODMH Community Linkage Program staff members meet with offenders prior to release to discuss available mental health services in the community where they will live. If an offender chooses to continue mental health treatment in his or her community, the staff member will work with local mental health boards and service providers to schedule the linkage appointment, and inform the offender of the date and location.
