Clinical Quality

The Ohio Department of Mental Health (ODMH) pursues clinical excellence through progressive treatment, education, research and advocacy. To ensure that quality mental health care is available in communities to all Ohioans, ODMH is involved in several quality initiatives:

Clinical Best Practices
ODMH works with affiliates at the local, state and national levels to initiate, coordinate, facilitate and manage efforts to promote recovery and resiliency through the accelerated adoption of best mental health practices, including evidence-based mental health practices.

Forensic Services
The interface between the mental health and criminal justice systems is significant. ODMH collaborates with involved constituencies to develop forensic policies, propose forensic programs, assist in forensic legislation, provide clinical and organizational forensic consultation and provide forensic education and training.

Pre-Admission Screening and Resident Review (PASRR)
The Pre-Admission Screening and Resident Review (PASRR) unit determines whether or not an individual who has an active diagnosis of mental illness meets Medicaid criteria for needing a nursing facility and specialized services.
